Prof. Tamás Várady Receives the Pierre Bézier Award

The Solid Modeling Association (SMA) has awarded the prestigious Pierre Bézier Award to Tamás Várady, a senior researcher at our department, in 2026. He received this exceptional distinction in recognition of his internationally acclaimed scientific contributions to geometric modeling, reverse engineering, surface fitting, and surface modeling.

The Pierre Bézier Award was established by the SMA in 2007 in honor of Pierre Bézier, one of the pioneers of computer-aided geometric modeling. It is among the most prestigious international awards in the fields of solid, geometric, and physical modeling, and is presented to researchers whose work has had a lasting and field-defining impact on the development and application of these disciplines.

Throughout his career, Tamás Várady has played a pioneering role in the development of geometric methods for CAD systems, as well as in advancing surface modeling and reverse engineering techniques.
